Biography

Raja Chinnappan is a Lecturer, in the department of chemistry at Alfaisal University, Riyadh Saudi Arabia. He joined Alfaisal University in November 2015. He is an associate member of American Association for Cancer Research (AACR). Dr Chinnappan received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. from University of Madras, India. During his Ph.D., he studied the polymer dynamics and interpolymerself-organization behavior by fluorescence spectroscopy using fluorescent dyes as probes. He moved to Louis-Pasteur University, France as a Sidaction Postdoctoral Research Fellow to continue his research on the inhibition of nucleic acid destabilization chaperoned activity of HIV-1 nucleocapsid protein (NCp) by synthetic peptides using FRET assays. He extent his research on FRET and single molecule fluorescence microscopy at Technical University of Chemnitz, Germany. As a research associate at Kansas State University, he worked in low temperature (4K) high resolution Fluorescence Line Narrowing Spectroscopy (FLNS) and immunoaffinity capillary electrophoresis for the differentiation and separation of benzo(a) pyrene DNA adducts. Then, he moved to Sherbrooke University, Canada, to work ondevelopment of the transcriptional regulation activity of the bacillus subtilis pbuE adenine riboswitchs. Later, he joinedas a research scientistin GDG environment Inc. Canada. He developed aptamer based biosensors for sensitive detection of cyanobacterial toxins from water bodies. He published several research papers in refereed journals and one book chapter.
