Selected Collection of Sermon Series by Sheikh
This book includes a collection of sermon series which was delivered by Sheikh Dr. Yusuf al-Qaradawi in Qatar. This 40- plus page book contains some interesting titles and the most important is regarding Ibadur Rahman that about Sheikh al- Qaradawi’s description of verses 63 to 77 surah al-Furqan. In addition to this title, this book also presents some summaries of other sermons titled Human Value, Repentance, Death, Stink of Sin, Aids Disease, Earthquake in Egypt, Obstacles to Marriage, Commemorating Maulidur Rasul and Human Rights in Islam. These titles are very meant to be appreciated by the readers because of it touch on the daily life of people and can be a guide to live happily in the world and afterlife. This book is easy for readers to digest because both writers have used language which is relaxed and easy to understand. Readers can expect to glean a great deal of useful wisdom from this book.

Majid & Ibrahim Majdi binMohamad Kamil, publishing this book is a continuation of the series of publishing free books by Council of Islamic Religion and Malay Customs of Kelantan for a long time. This free book publishing has no other purpose than to realize one of the main roles of The Council of Islamic Religion and Malay Customs of Kelantan itself is to spread knowledge as much knowledge as possible to the community. Sheikh Dr. Yusuf al-Qaradawi has unique privilege to be called Imam al-Muslimin, Imam al-Fuqaha and current Imam Ahli Sunnah. Besides being famous for his Islamic writing and encyclopedic lectures, he is also referred to as an authoritative scholar who covers the fields of faith, shari’ah and Sufism even includes the current knowledge of psychology, sociology, economics and others. His sermon also relevant to current issues and often voicing current Islamic thoughts and Islam nowadays. This book is one of the contents of his sermons since migrating from Egypt to Doha, Book Review Qatar. He preached at the Mosque of Abu Bakar al-Siddiq and Umar al-Khattab. This text is copied from the notes of Khalid al-Saad and submitted for re-editing by Sheikh Dr. Yusuf al-Qaradawi and published serially by Maktabah Wahbah Cairo, Egypt. This book collection contains several titles and the most important one is about Ibadur Rahman who is his description of some verses from surah al-Furqan.
This series of sermons was delivered by him over a period of more than 70 years in Egypt and in Qatar. Some people think that the Friday sermon is just a mandatory routine for legal requirements of Friday prayer, but for Sheikh al-Qaradawi it is part of his soul, the expression of thoughts and feelings related to the Qur’an and the Sunnah and Muslim heritage. Similarly, it is related to the reality of the world in general and the world Islam in particular, its bitterness and its ups and downs. According to Sheikh al-Qaradawi, the mosque in Islam has a basic mission in carrying out preaching duties, educating the people and education. The spirit of the mosque is the Imam and the preacher can take care of the people or put them to sleep. The mosque is also a place where religion is presented in the form of correct belief, pure worship, the main character, high manners, righteous practice, the law fair, beneficial knowledge, high art, balanced civilization, bringing together the in between originality and current by using the correct and simple method without attitude too tight or too loose. Therefore, the preacher is required to carry this great treatise with full wisdom for Islam has a stronghold for the community until any time. Sheikh al-Qaradawi reminded to the preachers to update information that touches on current issues to be delivered to the makmum every week so that it does not become a sleepy medicine for listeners in addition to sincerely intending to Allah SWT and not getting stuck in love popularity. It is this sincerity that makes the sermon seem energetic and giving effect on listeners. As the saying goes from heart to heart. If it comes out of the tongue alone, it only reaches the ears. So the preacher should not imitate others but respect pulpit and how the Prophet SAW stood on the pulpit and did not abuse it for other purposes. Khutbah is also not a place to raise issues of possible mistakes divide society.
Sheikh al-Qaradawi has been on the pulpit for the first time since he was 17 years old when delivering a sermon in his village Safat Turab. On that time he was still studying at Tanta Mesir religious secondary school. The title of the sermon he was delivered called Syukur. After his involvement in the Muslim Brotherhood movement, his activities expanded across other regions in Egypt. In 1951 he became permanent preacher in the city of al-Mahallah al-Kubra, an industrial city attended by thousands of makmum, until overflowing onto the road that led to the construction of a few more floorsin Al-Taha Mosquefor makmum’s comfort. That’s when Sheikh al-Qaradawi’s sermon began to be noted by his fans. It became more interesting after he was appointed as Khatib in Zamalek City in 1956 and continued when he moved to Doha, Qatar in 1961 on loan from al-Azhar University. In Qatar, he became a permanent preacher at Abu Bakar al-Siddiq Mosque and Umar al-Khattab Mosque until his sermon was broadcast live on Qatar TV. In addition, his sermons were also recorded on cassette and video. Finally a small part of the sermons were published in books form that the author can collect in his collection of nine volumes. In first Volume, the Wahbah edition (1997) contains 20 titles of the sermon series containing many titles. The titles of his sermons are as follows; human duty and its treatise on the face of the earth, repentance, the pillar of taubat nasuha, death, immorality, earthquakes in Egypt, AIDS disease, obstacles to marriage, Muslims facing enemies, Arab unification under the flag of Islam, Maulidur Rasul, the apostasy issue of Salman Rushdi, remembering Israk and Mikraj, Night of Nifsu Shaaban, Day of the Great Test, the advantages of Ramadan, remembering Intifada, Gaza Agreement, Hari Raya Puasa Sermon and Hari Raya Hajj Sermon. The book is 292 pages contain various matters related to Islam strengthened by the verses of the Quran and the hadiths copied by Ustaz Khalid al-Saad from Bahrain. The most interesting content of the sermon combines the teachings of basic Islam with current issues that make the content of the sermon fresh not to mention the style Sheikh al-Qaradawi’s oral presentation that is quite interesting to the listeners. It is expected the sermons chosen and served to the readers can give something an injection of very positive faith energy for the well-being of life in the world and in afterlife.
