Abstract

ChatGPT is a language model developed by Open AI that can provide support to paralegals and legal assistants in various tasks. Some of the uses of ChatGPT in the legal field include legal research, document generation, case management, document review, and client communication. However, ChatGPT also has limitations that must be taken into consideration, such as limited expertise, a lack of understanding context, the risk of bias in its responses, the potential for errors, and the fact that it cannot provide legal advice. While ChatGPT can be a valuable tool for paralegals and legal assistants, it is important to understand its limitations and use it in conjunction with the expertise and judgment of licensed legal professionals. The author acknowledges asking chatGPT questions regarding its uses for law. Some of the uses that it states are possible now and some are potentials for the future. The author has analyzed and edited the replies of chat GPT.

Introduction

ChatGPT is a large language model developed by Open AI that can assist in various tasks, including those performed by paralegals and legal assistants. While ChatGPT can provide valuable support, it also has limitations and disadvantages that should be taken into consideration. This includes its limited expertise and understanding of context, the risk of bias in its responses, the potential for errors, and the fact that it is not a licensed legal professional and cannot provide legal advice. In this context, it is important to understand that ChatGPT should be used as a supplement to, rather than a replacement for, the expertise and judgment of licensed legal professionals [1, 2].

The author acknowledges asking chatGPT questions regarding its uses for law. Some of the uses that it states are possible now and some are potentials for the future. The author has analysed and edited the replies of chat GPT.

Conclusion

In conclusion, ChatGPT is a powerful tool that can assist paralegals and legal assistants in a variety of tasks, but it is important to understand its limitations and limitations. While it can provide valuable support and save time, it is not a substitute for the expertise and judgment of licensed legal professionals. In order to ensure the accuracy and reliability of its responses, ChatGPT should be used in conjunction with the guidance of licensed attorneys [3]. Ultimately, the use of ChatGPT as a support tool in the legal field can be a valuable addition to the workflow of paralegals and legal assistants, but it should not be relied upon as the sole source of information or decision- making in any legal matter. However, these are roles stated by chat GPT and although some of them are possible now, some others are potential uses for the future as its database and analytical skills become better.
