Emotional and Physical Results on Maternal Well-Being upon Realization that Off-Spring will Not Continue Familial Heritage of Roman Catholicism
The primary purpose of this study is to access the emotional results of depression, PTSD, anxiety and insomnia of mothers who are practicing Roman Catholics, as well as the physical symptoms of blood pressure, weight gain or loss, hyperventilation and dizziness when coming to terms with the fact that their children will be the first generation to not continue in the familial tradition, often going back hundreds of years, of being practicing members of their Church.

This will be conducted as a case study.
Thirty mothers will be given two questionnaires each containing open and closed- ended questions within eight categories. One assessing psychological results and one assessing physical results.
Demographic information will be collected on a third questionnaire to assess for any significant differences.
Each mother will meet with the researchers for a personal interview, results of which will be factored into this study.
The researcher, as well as a research assistant will conduct the personal inter- views. To assure reliable and valid results each mother will meet separately, one time with Opinion each researcher.
The author of this study is a Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology, as well as a Board Active Clinician in the State of California. Her previous studies have been in ethnic studies among children, as well as studies conducted on jury members in the State of California.
The catalyst for this study comes from two sources: One, the researcher, as well as the assistant researcher are facilitators for an LGBTQ+ group at a Roman Catholic Church.
Two, repetitive observation of both emotional and physical problems of mothers who see the end of generational spiritual heritage ending with their children.
This will not be a study of reasons why the offspring are leaving the Church, thus it will not be another article on the many shortcomings of the Roman Catholic Church. It will focus only the emotional and physical variables of the mothers.
All subjects names and demographics will be confidential. As a case study the results will not be hypothesized.
