The recent advances in molecular imaging and immunohistochemistry have led to the development of interest in the formation of blood vessels. Formation of blood vessels need certain essential factors which are called angiogenic factors. The two major factors responsible for formation of blood vessels are, Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor and Fibroblast Growth Factor. The process of endothelial cells forming major ducts, capillaries and arteries will comprehend at approximately 4 weeks of in utero as a part of development of the cardiovascular system. But the development is always dynamic. The vascularization of skin and other organs is different from that of the oral cavity (1). In this article, an elaboration of the differences and pathogenesis of certain vascular anomalies affecting oral cavity is dealt with.
