A Newly Constructed Relationship of Remedy of Natrum Sulphuricum through Retrospective Study Based on Therapeutic Pocket Book

Introduction

The relationship of remedies is an essential consideration in the second prescription, when the symptomatology has changed or when in the treatment of the chronic case, certain acute trouble has cropped up. This study based on the relationship of remedies of Natrum Sulphuricum according to Boennighausen. To identify the relationship of Natrum sulphuricum through the Retrospective level. Natrum Sulphuricum is an important and antipsychotic remedy used in practice even after the Boennighausen’s period. Nobody had taken any effort to understand the remedy relationship. The word relationship states how two or more things are linked, or the state of being linked. There is nothing in nature unrelated to anything else. Medicines are interconnected to each other in various ways of therapeutic action [1]. Knowledge of these relationships is very important for the precise prescription. Hahnemann was always cautious to notice and record the antidotes to the remedies he proved [2]. The relationship of remedies is the most useful part of the therapeutic pocketbook. Even Kent promoted the use of this particular section which can be studied at various levels of mind, parts, sensations, modalities, etc. But it is the least understood and least used because of neglect by the practitioner. The physicians are experts in the art of individualisation which is one of the pillars of homoeopathic treatment but more stress needs to be given for the grouping of remedies based on their relationship which has great significance in practice for the ideal cure. The homoeopathic writings were found to be very rich in defining the relationship which every remedy owes to each other [3]. In our world, human beings are interrelated to each other. Likewise, some similarities and dissimilarities exist between the medicines in Homoeopathy. One must have adequate knowledge about the medicines and their existing relationships which makes the second prescription easier especially in chronic diseases [4]. Physicians who do not know the chapter on the relationship of remedies, claims it as useless. No physician can get adequate success in his clinical practice if he/she doesn’t possess the knowledge of the relationship of remedies. Our master had found that miasm is the fundamental cause of all chronic diseases [5]. From his practice, he experienced that a single medicine is not enough to get a complete cure. So, he felt the need for successive antipsoric medicines, which was mentioned in aphorism171 [5]. From this inspiration, Boenninghausen introduced the seventh chapter in his Therapeutic Pocket Book.

Materials and Methods

A sample of 150 cases taken from the patients presented with various conditions indicated Natrum Sulphuricum as a first remedy and assess the progress and follow up of the case according to symptom availability. Who were visited the OPD, IPD and peripheral centres of Sarada Krishna Homoeopathic Medical College for homoeopathic treatment will be randomly assigned in the study. Cases will be processed within the case concept form and analysis will be done according to. Purposive Sampling technique through retrospective study. Both sexes are included,and also all age groups.included all the disease conditions indicated Natrum Sulphuricum as a 1st prescription and need other remedies for the complete cure. Excluded the Cases which are not cured after Natrum Sulphuricum as the first prescription. Case taking and medicine selection and administration according to homoeopathic principles. Mainly To find out the relationship of remedies of Natrum Sulphuricum according to Boenninghausen. Improvement criteria are based on symptomatology. Patients with the various condition will be analysed based on it. The recording will be done in a pre- structured case format. No statistical technique were used.

Results and Discussion

In the sample of 150 cases, a maximum of 36 cases (24%) were between the age group of 35-45years; minimum of 5 cases (3.3%) were between the age group of 2-12 years. Out of 150 cases, When comparing both genders the maximum number of cases were covered by female patients 107 (72.79%) and least by males 37 (25.17%). According to this study, among the 150 cases, there is about 267 diagnoses, maximum of 108 diagnoses (40.44%) were COPD conditions. and the Minimum number of 1 diagnosis (0.37%) each of Chronic Otitis Media, Inflammatory Bowel Syndrome, Osteomyelitis, Hypertension and Lumbar Strain (Tables 1& 2).

Out of 150 cases, maximum 25 cases (15%) Sulphur was prescribed, and 1 case (0.6%) each was prescribed with Conium Maculatum, Ipecac, Kali Bichromicum, Psorinum and Rumex. Among 150 cases, Sulphur was prescribed in 25 cases. Among these 25 cases 45 diagnoses were there, out of that 17 diagnoses (38%) were COPD conditions, 8 diagnoses (18%) were atopic dermatitis, 4 diagnoses (9%) were lumbar spondylosis, 3 diagnoses (7%) were osteoarthritis, 2 diagnoses (4%) each was rheumatoid arthritis, gastritis, contact dermatitis and allergic dermatitis, 1 diagnosis (2%) each were tension headache, post-traumatic arthritis, duodenal ulcer, diabetes mellitus, and chronic allergic rhinitis. Among 150 cases, Rhus toxicodentron was prescribed in 23 cases. Among these 23 cases 25 diagnoses were there, out of that 6 diagnoses (24%) were lumbar spondylosis, 5 diagnoses (20%) were osteoarthritis, 4 diagnoses (16%) were cervical spondylosis, 3 diagnoses (12%) were sciatica, 2 diagnoses (8%) each was IVDP and post-traumatic arthritis and 1 diagnosis (4%) each were atopic dermatitis, rheumatoid arthritis and bronchial asthma. Among 150 cases, Arsenicum Album was prescribed in 21 cases. Among these 21 cases 31 diagnoses were there, out of that 17 diagnoses (55%) were COPD conditions, 3diagnoses (10%) were chronic allergic rhinitis, 2 diagnoses (6%) each was gastritis and diabetes mellitus and 1 diagnosis (7%) each were warts, osteomyelitis, migraine, gastric ulcer, atopic dermatitis, aphthous ulcer and allergic dermatitis. Among 150 cases, Thuja was prescribed in 19 cases. Among these 19 cases 25 diagnoses were there, out of that 10 diagnoses (40%) were COPD conditions, 4 diagnoses (16%) were osteoarthritis, 3 diagnoses (12%) were lumbar spondylosis, 2 diagnoses (8%) were gastritis, 1 diagnosis (4%) each was rheumatoid arthritis, gastritis, contact dermatitis and allergic dermatitis and 1 diagnosis (4%) each were warts, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel syndrome, chronic otitis media, allergic dermatitis and atopic dermatitis.

Among 150 cases, Bryonia was prescribed in 13 cases. Among these 13 cases 21 diagnoses were there, out of that 8 diagnoses (38%) were COPD conditions, 4 diagnoses (19%) were osteoarthritis and 1 diagnosis (5%) each were post- traumatic arthritis, post-traumatic headache, lumbar strain, lumbar spondylosis, cervical spondylosis, chronic sinusitis, chronic allergic rhinitis, gastritis and intervertebral disc prolapse. Among 150 cases, Belladonna was prescribed in 9 cases. Among these 9cases 13 diagnoses were there, out of that 5 diagnoses (38%) were post-traumatic headache, 2 diagnoses (15%) were chronic sinusitis and 1 diagnosis (8%) were tension headache, tonsilitis, migraine, fever, chronic allergic rhinitis and hypertension. Among 150 cases, Tuberculinum was prescribed in 8 cases. Among these 8 cases, 11 diagnoses were there, out of that 6 diagnoses (54.54%) were COPD conditions and 1 diagnosis (9.09%) each was typhoid fever, pulmonary tuberculosis, tension headache, chronic sinusitis and chronic allergic rhinitis. Among 150 cases, Pulsatilla was prescribed in 7 cases. Among these 7 cases 9 diagnoses were there, out of that 5 diagnoses (55.55%) were COPD conditions, 2 diagnoses (22.22%) were chronic sinusitis and 1 diagnosis (11.11%) each were pulmonary tuberculosis and chronic allergic rhinitis. Among 150 cases, natrum muriaticum was prescribed in 6 cases. Among these 6 cases 10 diagnoses were there, out of that 4 diagnoses (40%) were migraine,1 diagnosis (10%) each was chronic allergic rhinitis, atopic dermatitis, chronic sinusitis, COPD, osteoarthritis and post-traumatic headache. Among 150 cases, Silicea was prescribed in 4 cases. Among these 4 cases, 8 diagnoses were there, out of that 2 diagnoses (25%) each were haemorrhoids COPD conditions and 1 diagnosis (12.5%) each were chronic allergic rhinitis, atopic dermatitis, skin abscess and allergic dermatitis. Among 150 cases, Arsenicum Iodtum was prescribed in 4 cases. Among these 4 cases 5 diagnoses were there, out of that 4 diagnoses (80%) were chronic allergic rhinitis and 1 diagnosis (20%) were COPD condition.Among 150 cases, Arnica Montana was prescribed in 3 cases. Among these 3 cases 3 diagnoses were there, out of that 2 diagnoses (66.66%) were post- traumatic headache and 1 diagnosis (33.33%) each were osteoarthritis. Among 150 cases, Phosphorous was prescribed in 3 cases. Among these 3 cases 4 diagnoses were there, out of that 3 diagnoses (75%) were COPD conditions, 1 diagnosis (25%) were chronic allergic rhinitis. Among 150 cases, Nuxvomica was prescribed in3 cases. Among these 3cases 5 diagnoses were there, out of that 4 diagnoses (80%) were gastric ulcer, 1 diagnosis (20%) were the lumbar strain. Among 150 cases, Lycopodium was prescribed in 3 cases. Among these 3 cases, 5 diagnoses were there, out of that 1 diagnosis (20%) each were duodenal ulcer, COPD, chronic allergic rhinitis, gastritis, and atopic dermatitis. Among 150 cases, Graphites was prescribed in 3 cases. Among these 3 cases, 3 diagnoses were there, out of that 3 diagnoses (100%) were atopic dermatitis. Among 150 cases, Calcarea Carbonicum was prescribed in 3 cases. Among these 3 cases, 6 diagnoses were there, out of that 2 diagnoses (33%) each were COPD and hypothyroidism. 1 diagnosis (17%) each were lumbar spondylosis and diabetes mellitus. Among 150 cases, Ignatia was prescribed in 2 cases. Among these 2 cases 3 diagnoses were there, out of that 2 diagnoses (67%) were depression disorder, 1 diagnosis (33%) were hemorrhoids. Among 150 cases, Bromium was prescribed in 2 cases. Among these 2 cases, 2 diagnoses were there, out of that 2 diagnoses (80%) were COPD condition. Among 150 cases, Conium Maculatum was prescribed only in1 case. Among this 1 case, 1 diagnosis was there, out of that 1 diagnosis (100%) was mastitis. Among 150 cases, Hepar Sulphuricum was prescribed in 1 case. Among this 1 case, only 1 diagnosis was there, out of that 1 diagnosis (100%) were COPD condition. Among this 1 case, only 1 diagnosis was there, out of that 1 diagnosis (100%) were COPD condition. Among 150 cases, Rumex was prescribed only in 1 case. Among this 1 case, 1 diagnosis was there, out of that 1 diagnosis (100%) were COPD condition. Among 150 cases, Psorinum was prescribed only in 1 case. Among this 1 case, 1 diagnosis was there, out of that 1 diagnosis (100%) was vitiligo. Among 150 cases, Kali Bichromicum was prescribed only in 1 case. Among this 1 case, 1 diagnosis was there, out of that 1 diagnosis (100%) was chronic sinusitis. Among 150 cases, Psorinum was prescribed only in 1case.Among this 1 case, 1 diagnosis was there, out of that 1 diagnosis (100%) was vitiligo.

In the Mind subsection only one medicine covers (Ignatia), In the Localities subsection the medicine which covers are (Sulphur, Arsenicum Album, Rhus Toxicodendron, Thuja, Bryonia, Belladonna, Tuberculinum, Pulsatilla, Silicea, Natrum Muriaticum, Phosphorous, Arsenicum Iodatum, Arnica Montana, Nux Vomica, Graphites, Calcarea Carb, Lycopodium, Bromium, Conium Maculatum Ipecac, Kali Bichromicum, Hepar Sulphuricum, Rumex).

In the Sensation subsection the medicine which covers are (Sulphur, Arsenicum Album, Rhus Toxicodendron, Thuja, Bryonia, Belladonna, Tuberculinum, Pulsatilla, Silicea, Natrum Muriaticum, Phosphorous, Arsenicum Iodatum, Arnica Montana, Nux Vomica, Graphites, Calcarea Carb, Lycopodium, Bromium, Conium Maculatum, Ipecac, Kali Bichromicum, Hepar Sulphuricum, Rumex).

In the Glands subsection the medicines covers are (Calcarea carb, Silicea). In the Bones subsection, the medicines which covers are (Rhus Toxicodendron, Sulphur, Bryonia Alba, Thuja, Arsenicum Album, Natrum Muriaticum, Arnica Montana, Nux Vomica, Tuberculinum).

In the Skin subsection the medicine which covers are (Sulphur, Thuja, Arsenicum Album, Tuberculinum, Graphites, Silicea, Natrum Muriaticum, Bryonia, Calcarea Carbonicum, Psorinum,RhusToxicodendron.

In the Other remedies subsection, the medicine which covers are (Sulphur, Rhus Toxicodendron, Arsenicum Album, Thuja, Bryonia, Belladonna, Pulsatilla, Tuberculinum, Natrum Muriaticum, Silicea, Arsenicum Iodatum, Phosphorous, Calcarea Carb, Lycopodium, Nux Vomica, Arnica Montana, Bromium, Conium Mac, Graphites, Kali Bichromicum, Psorinum, Rumex).

In Aggravation (Time & Circumstances) the medicines which covers are (Sulphur, Arsenicum Album, Rhus Toxicodendron, Thuja, Bryonia, Belladonna, Tuberculinum, Pulsatilla, Silicea, Natrum Muriaticum, Phosphorous, Arsenicum Iodatum, Arnica Montana, Nux Vomica, Graphites, Calcarea Carb, Lycopodium, Bromium, Conium Maculatum, Kali Bichromicum, psorinum, Hepar Sulphuricum, Rumex).

In Blood, circulation & fever Subsection the medicine which covers are (Natrum muriaticum, Silicea, Tuberculinum, Belladonna, Rhus Toxicodendron, Thuja, Ignatia).

In Sleep & Dreams subsection the medicine covers are (Sulphur, Belladonna, Arsenicum Album, Kali Bichromicum, Nux Vomica, Thuja, Tuberculinum).

In the Antidote subsection, the medicine which covers are (Calcarea Carb, Lycopodium, and Phosphorous).

Conclusion

It could be proved that Relationship of Natrum sulphuricum which are effective in clinical practice and identified the most commonly used effective medicine on remedy relationship of Natrum Sulphuricum in various disease conditions. Sulphur medicine alone totally wrapped 45 cases that mean an individual case contains 2 or more diagnosis so while noticing individual accessory medicine we can see the number of cases would increase and the medicine were more reflected in COPD condition with 17 cases. founded the 11 subdivisions (Mind, Localities, Sensation, Glands, Bones, Skin, Blood circulation and fever, Aggravation time And circumstances, Other Remedies and Antidote. and other Antisycotic medicines (Arsenicum album, Kali Bichromicum, Lycopodium, Phosphorous, Silicea, Tuberculinum, Natrum muriaticum, Thuja, Psorinum) which were formed under the relationship of Natrum Sulphuricum, Here Lycopodium and Phosphorous formed as Antidote of Natrum Sulphuricum This type of study helpful for future homoeopaths as well for research purpose.
