The Open Access Journal of Botanical Insights has begun its journey. It is a journal that has peer review, based on the highest scientific rigor, and that publishes articles in various fields of modern botany. However, it is not only open to original articles, it also seeks to incorporate review articles, short communications, opinion articles, editorials and obituaries among others. Through these, we hope that readers will find in this journal a wide range of articles that will enrich their knowledge.

It is an important means for the diffusion and dissemination of the most recent scientific discoveries. It invites healthy debate by the scientist and the consolidation of results through consensus.

Today’s society is very concerned about the advance of desertification, climate change, global warming, the melting of polar ice, major diseases and much more. The science preached in this journal will aim to answer highly complex questions, which will provide knowledge and solutions to taxonomic, sociocultural, palynological, phytopathological, palaeobotanical problems and many more.

Those of us who are part of the Editorial Board of this journal recognize that we must be involved in the process of evaluating articles following rigorous standards. This is why Opinion we have the obligation to maintain confidentiality about the manuscripts that the journal receives and fundamentally not to disclose their content until they have been approved and consequently published. After the publication of the articles, their title and authorship will be disseminated.

We encourage the authors of our works to make an effort to comply with the guidelines for authors and to properly mention the origin of the phrases they cite.

As for the journal’s reviewers, they ensure that the works are original and contribute to international scientific knowledge. Because of this, we need that the reviewers have no conflict of interest with the authors; otherwise they will decline the review.

The authors of the works agree not to simultaneously submit a work for publication in another journal. However, a short note or some other article is allowed to be expanded as sequences (part I, II, etc.).

Finally, I consider that important steps are being taken to allow the journal to gain international visibility and bring together authors from all regions of the planet, trying to reach the standards of the best journals.
